Now Hiring

Punk Rock Flea Market and Quality Flea Center are hiring for TWO positions. The Punk Rock Flea Market is the PNW's loudest, weirdest, and most community-minded marketplace. Several times each year we bring together hundreds of vendors, artists, makers and misfits for multi-day markets packed with music, DIY culture, and general chaos. The Quality Flea Center is the home of the PRFM and serves as a hub for low-budget creativity and action. We host regular events, concerts, pop-ups, and gatherings that draw on the same DIY energy of the Punk Rock Flea Market but are not limited to punk events or any other subculture.

We are looking for a Builder and a Bookkeeper to join our crew.

We are a small team so anyone looking to work with us must be kind, tolerant, and flexible. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with many different types of coworkers or volunteers, keeping in mind that our organization draws strength from the diversity of our community. When conflict arises we expect our people to resolve differences constructively. We have no patience for bigotry, sexism, drama, or power trips. We want people who can adapt, collaborate, and keep it real.

To apply for either job, send an email about yourself to qualityfleacenter@gmail.com with the name of the position in the subject line. Tell us about your experience and why you’d be a good fit. Résumés or fancy cover letters are fine but NOT required. Extra points for creativity, resourcefulness, and a good sense of humor.

BUILDER

The Builder will be a person with some experience in DIY construction and willing to learn more, who is personable and comfortable interacting with the public. This role is hands-on and requires a versatile skill set for a wide range of tasks, often with limited resources and creative problem-solving. The ideal candidate should be down with punk rock values and excited about contributing to a local, independent art and music scene.

This position offers 15-20 hours a week to start. The current schedule includes Thursdays, Weeknights, and Weekends.

Your supervisor will be our Executive Director, however you will be able to largely self manage your duties and complete your tasks without direct oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with setup and teardown for events, pop-ups, and markets (tables, tents, stages, signs, lighting, barricades, etc.)
  • Build, repair, and adapt event infrastructure with basic tools and materials
  • Maintain safety in busy, chaotic environments
  • Be ready to improvise when the unexpected happens (because it will)
  • Work collaboratively with a diverse team of staff, volunteers, and vendors

Qualifications

  • Comfortable with tools, ladders, heavy lifting, and solving practical problems on the fly
  • Flexible schedule — most work happens right before and after events (nights/weekends)
  • Able to take direction but also self-motivated when left to figure something out
  • Prior construction or stage crew experience a plus (but not required)
  • Must be okay working in loud, messy, punk environments

Compensation

  • This is a part-time contractor (1099) position. Compensation is hours-based and schedule-flexible.
  • Paid hourly (starts at $20 an hour during a brief training period and increasing as the Builder becomes a permanent team member)
  • Meals and beverages provided during shifts
  • Entry to all PRFM & QFC events

BOOKKEEPER

We need a QFC/PRFM Bookkeeper to handle the un-glamorous but essential parts of running our artsy, community-driven enterprise: tracking income and expenses, paying bills, managing vendor and renter fees, making sure the lights stay on.

Your supervisor will be our Executive Director, however you will be able to largely self manage your duties and complete your tasks without direct oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Record and reconcile income/expenses (vendor fees, bar sales, event tickets, etc.)
  • Maintain QuickBooks (or similar) and produce regular financial reports
  • Process invoices, payments, and reimbursements for staff and vendors
  • Track contractor payments
  • Support budgeting for events and projects with clear, accessible info
  • Work with leadership to keep financial operations smooth and stress-free

Qualifications

  • Prior bookkeeping or accounting experience (QuickBooks, Wave, or similar software)
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable handling confidential information
  • Able to translate “punk chaos” into organized financial records
  • Familiarity with nonprofit or small business finances a plus
  • Comfortable working part-time/flexible hours; most work is remote with occasional in-person meetings
  • Sense of humor and patience appreciated

Compensation

  • This is a part-time contractor (1099) position.
  • Paid hourly or monthly retainer (rate depends on experience)
  • Flexible schedule — work can mostly be done on your own time
  • Entry to all PRFM & QFC events
